Download Lazarillo User Manual for iOS

Introduction

Lazarillo is a very intuitive application and does not require any special skill or ability. Once you download it and register the application in Android or IOS, just open the Exploration tab to begin receiving information.

Tabs: These are how we present each of the sections available in Lazarillo.

Registration

The first time you open the application you will need to register. This ensures that any favorites you save in Lazarillo will be linked to your account.

There are three options:

  • A Google button, which sends the Gmail email and name associated with your Google account to be identified in Lazarillo.
  • A Facebook button, which sends the email and name associated with your Facebook profile to be identified in Lazarillo.
  • A button to use your email: This option creates a new account. You provide your email, first and last name, and create a personalized password.

In case you forget your password, simply recover it by using the recover password button.

Note: This option is only available when you sign in with email.

You’ll receive a link in your email after you register. You can then use the link to change your password to a new one.

After you log in, you will get a request for permission to use bluetooth, a request for permission to send notifications, and a request for permission to access the location of the device. Allow all of these requests.

Introduction to tabs and places

On the application screen, there are four tabs that appear below from left to right, including Exploration, Favorites, News and Settings. You can easily switch between the tabs no matter which one is displayed on the main screen.

When you enter an address for a place from the Exploration tab or Favorites tab as well as from the different categories on the Exploration screen, you always have the option to tap on the place you find and then use the star button to add the address/place to Favorites. From the favorites list, you can tap on a place, and use the buttons to plan a route for walking, public transportation, car and Uber.

Exploration buttons (options and categories)

To move through the application, flick your finger from left to right and find the following options.

“Stop Exploration” Button

Use the arrow button next to the word Exploration (top of screen) to pause the application while you are stopped and do not want to hear voice messages. You might want to close the application if you’re not using it for a while. Press the arrow button again to start scanning from the pause mode. You’ll hear the message “Exploration started” and the voice messages will resume.

“Where I Am” Button

With this button, Lazarillo tells you the address that is closest to where you are currently located. However, it will not always be the last location announced in the scan.

“Search” Button

Use this feature to search for a specific place you’re looking for by name or address.

Categories to Filter for Exploration

Located on the Exploration screen, categories help you find and customize the different types of places that you can hear in voice messages from Lazarillo as you move. You can choose all of them, a selection or none by clicking on the category filtering on the top right.

Note: If you don’t select anything, the application will keep you informed about bus stops and intersections. You’ll receive a message about where you are going that indicates the street and direction towards which you are moving.

Note 2: There are two modes available for directions in the category selection – on foot or by vehicle. They must be selected individually.

“Last Place Announced”

The last place you searched for is here. When you select it, you can access more information and route planning by choosing “track this place”. You can also choose to add it to your favorites.
