Summary

The accessible mapping platform will allow users to create routes using the Lazarillo app, a MetLife company, providing them with audio guides and precise orientation when moving through various points of interest in the offices.

Opening new spaces every day without barriers for everyone is an ongoing challenge. Recently, the Lazarillo team implemented their technologies in AFP ProVida offices in Chile. Specifically, the branch located at 1126 Providencia Avenue, near the Manuel Montt Metro station in Santiago, was chosen to start an accessibility plan that will soon extend to more service centers.

For ProVida’s over 3 million members, Lazarillo and its accessible digital mapping platform have implemented an indoor navigation system at this office, as well as geolocating it. Thanks to this, users with and without disabilities can reach the ProVida, a MetLife company, branch by creating a route from their location with the Lazarillo app, receiving audio guides and constant exploration of their surroundings while moving. Inside, they can navigate service modules, administrative offices, and restrooms, receiving voice instructions on their mobile phones.

How to Improve the Autonomy of Blind People with Friendly Physical Spaces

ProVida is the first AFP in Chile to innovate in universal access, integrating Lazarillo’s cutting-edge technologies. For René Espinoza, CEO and Co-founder, this is a tremendous opportunity to improve the quality of life for thousands of people with truly friendly physical spaces.

“Today, together with ProVida, we are celebrating the launch of the first inclusive branch in the industry for people with visual or mobility disabilities. This reflects a great commitment to making our country a better place for everyone, opening up opportunities for development and more autonomy for millions of AFP members.”

For Santiago Donoso, General Manager of ProVida, improving the user experience every day through comprehensive and personalized service is one of the company’s main goals. “We are very happy to be the first administrator in the industry to implement geolocation maps in our branches, providing better accessibility and experience for our members and pensioners. Through this intelligent platform, our facilities will undoubtedly be more welcoming spaces for our visitors.”

Lazarillo App Features Available

Within the app, in the Accessible Places tab, there is the ProVida AFP profile. When opened, people will find the branch address, points of interest, contact channels, and the option to simulate the location, allowing them to explore the environment in real-time as if they were there. Most importantly, they will have the option to start a route from their current position to the office, whether by public transport or walking, and once inside, move around the facilities more easily. The LazarilloApp also allows saving this location in Favorites, making it easy to use whenever needed.

What are Information Layers

Recently, Lazarillo has significantly improved its technologies, such as the MapVX digital maps platform, created by its developers to provide multiple layers of information in diverse places like shopping centers, airports, and universities, among others. One of these layers is accessibility, which feeds a comprehensive database into the Lazarillo app, facilitating the creation of digital maps that can become the best solution for attracting and welcoming new customers to your physical spaces.
